American Violet is a film, based on true events during the 2000 election, about an African American woman falsely accused of distributing narcotics in a small Texas town.  Drug task forces were using military tactics to terrorize poor people and wrongly accuse them of drug charges while federal money was being distributed to the counties who prosecuted the most people.

Dee, a single mother of 4 who is innocent of all drug charges, is given two choices either accept a plea bargain as a convicted felon, or remain in jail risking a long harsh prison sentence and custody of her children.  Dee chooses to fight the justice system, a fight that changes her life and the Texas justice system for ever.
