I got a chance to meet and interview 30 Rock funny man Judah Friedlander at a charity comedy event called Funny For Fido which raised money to help save abused animals. Judah is hilarious, he even asked for my gmail so we could gchat, wonder what that chick he was with at the Emmy’s would have to say??

CQ: What is it like working with the cast of 30 Rock?

JF: They’re great ya know, I’ve taught them a lot. When I first went on the show none of them really understood what acting was about and I really taught them all how to act, so I’m really happy, they’ve come a long way. Baldwin has already won so many awards on the show same with Tina, they are multiple acting award winners now. And before working with me I don’t think they had ever won any acting awards. So, I think I’m a great teacher.

CQ: How do you relate most to your character on the show?

JF: Well I think style wise we have a lot in common, we both make our own hats, we both wear glasses. I’m definitely a much…I mean, i’m the world champion! You know Frank gets a lot of chicks, as we learned this season on one of the episodes, I was hooking up with everybody. But ah, I actually get even more, so that relates to him in that level. I’m definitely a better athlete than Frank Rossitano. But ah, he’s more of a troublemaker than I am. Yeah, he gets yelled at more than me, I’ve never been yelled at.

CQ: Never?

JF: Never. Look at me. People are afraid of me, I’m the world champion, people don’t yell at the champ. So ya know, those are the differences.

CQ: So how do you prepare for standup, do you normally just take a nap and then jump up and go? (He was napping on a booth right before I met him)

JF: Well I was busy all day, umm….normally I like to wake up at 5:30 p.m. have a nice breakfast then go out and do 4 shows in the city.

CQ: Would that be a breakfast of champions?

JF: Yeah exactly, I eat Wheaties for dinner, and you can quote me on that one! I’m the world champion I eat Wheaties for dinner! But no, I’ve been doing standup since 1989, when we’re not filming (30 Rock) I do standup every night, often several shows a night. I’ve got another earl

CQ: Final question, if you were stranded on an island with one 30 Rock character, would you take Tracy Jordan or Jack Donaghy?

JF: I would take Tracy Jordan, because he’s so rich he’d have a cell phone that would still work there and he would be able to call over so big cruise ship. And then wed go on the cruise ship and just party with hot chicks the whole time.
